Tommy Lee-5-1024x1024Lee was born Thomas Lee Bass on October 3, 1962, in Athens, Greece, to father David Lee Thomas Bass, an American U.S. Army sergeant, and mother Vassiliki "Voula" Papadimitriou (Greek: Basilike Papademetriou), who was a contestant in the 1957 Miss Greece beauty contest. Athena is his younger sister is also a drummer. When Lee was just two years oldof age his father emigrated the family back to the United States, settling in California.Lee got his first drum sticks when he turned four years old. He also received the first real drum set when he reached the age of teenager. To pursue a career in an artist and performer, he quit high school and joined the L.A. nightclub band Suite 19. [5] He was a teenager who enjoyed listening to Van Halen and Led Zeppelin as well as Kiss, AC/DC, Cheap Trick, Kiss and Led Zeppelin. John Bonham, Tommy Aldridge and Alex Van Halen were his primary drumming influencers. Terry Bozzio has also been an influential influence.
